Scraping frost off an SUV is pretty rare in Miami, but today - on this cold December morning I was doing just that. A chore I don't particularly dislike. But today the neighbors dog decided he didn't take to me invading his territory and urinated on my leg. It's nothing new, animals not liking me, they must be able to sense the Dark Passenger, that's my take on it anyway, but still... Nothing I can do about it, unfortunately dogs dont adhere to Harrys code.
When I finally arrived at work, Vince decided it would be a good idea to bring in frosted donuts for everyone. Now I'm not a party pooper, but that's my little trick, a little way to 'charm' my fellow workers, another piece of armor if you will, one more layer that creates the illusion of a REAL human being. I didn't say anything though, Harry wouldn't approve.
Anyway I'm babbling a little here, time for the good stuff.
"Crime scene, 224 Alcheri drive" Angel shouted over the top of everyone. Oh those beautiful words, apart from my extra curricular activities of course, my work is the one place I can be me... Me, alone, with blood. There's nothing narsistic about it, the stuff just fascinates me.
Blonde female, approximately 30 years of age - lying face down on the front porch. Completely naked, no sign of blunt force trauma, infact no trace of anything - until I saw her hands. Each finger tip snipped off, precise - almost with a surgical prisision, the skin peeled back to show the bone just below the knuckle, on every finger.
Some strange ritual of some sort? Some strange message? Not an M.O I've seen before I can tell you. A little vulgar perhaps, but I had to admire the workmanship.
Without much blood there's not a lot I could do... So once the body was signed and bagged, I was back at base before I knew it.
I had 3 voice messages on my display when I for back, all from the baby sitter - the wonderful Irish charm. What did she want? Was something wrong? Had something happened to Harrison?
No. Her terminally ill sister was admitted to hospital with suspected sepsis - so she couldn't have Harrison past 12.
My research into this mystery 'fingertip' killer would have to wait, I'm a little further in the investigation than my fellow colleagues, having convienatly left some evidence in the trash bin by my work station. Not to interfere with proceedings of course, just applying my very own kind of justice.
Well thats about it for today, Harrison has just woken so I'm off to be the doting father that I am :)
Until next time Dexterites

Tired or what? |
Well, tired isn't the word, Harrison kept me up all night last night. Now I know what all the books say about bouncing him up and down in a circular motion, lightly singing to him blah blah blah, to be honest - I don't buy that crap. I tried all the tricks in the book.... for HOURS! We tried Sesame Street, Bongo's, CNN, College Football, Dora...and finally channel 412, a documentary on the less than tasteful Bundy murders...
hmm, who knew?
Debera's been on at me for ages to sort out pre-school for Harrison, so this mornings task is to research possible schools. There's something about sending Harrison out into this big bad world with only a middle-aged overweight, $10/hr wage excuse of a child carer to protect him from the evils of this world, hell... thats my job. But I guess I can't be everywhere at all times, so I'll get back to you on this one.
It's been 7 weeks now since my last one, the Dark Passenger is prodding at me constantly, laughing and tauting me, Harry's no where to be seen, no surprise there - he always seems to disappear when I need him most.
Of course, the Passenger is gonna have to wait just a little longer, after the events of the past few months I've decided to lay low for a while, oh... not to worry though, Dexter has a few possible candidates on his radar, well 7 actually, but it would be ridiculous to even contemplate acting on these, not just yet anyway...
Well my new friends, I guess I can call you that - I've gotta call Bill and Maura later today to talk about bringing Astor and Cody to Miami for a few days - so I guess its goodbye from me, until next time.
